Introduction and my role:
Last summer, I worked as a PR and Communications Intern with Family Promise of Greater Wichita (FPGW) through AmeriCorps, a national service program which connects non-profits with the help they need. Through my AmeriCorps placement, I was able to contribute to FPGW's mission while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and community outreach.

My main initiative was contributing to a sustainable social media strategy that would continue benefiting the organization after my service ended. Working closely with FPGW's Director of Development and Community Engagement Beth Schafers, I developed templates and reusable content in addition to collecting and creating daily social media content and weekly newsletters.

FPGW provides essential services to families in the Wichita community, protecting children from suffering through homelessness. I am proud to have served my community by bringing my knowledge of social media, strategic storytelling, and design to amplify the mission of an amazing non-profit.

Social Content with an Impact
Crafting varied social content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn allowed me to communicate with the FPGW's 3 key audiences: volunteers, donors, and at-risk families.

"The Huddle" Weekly Newsletter
Through consistent quality and eye-catching titles I increased email newsletter open rate by ~9% compared to the first half 2024.

Building Awareness
Community presence is the backbone of a non-profit's awareness strategy. I made sure FPGW was there when it counted, finding and attending events with the team of family advocates.
